狂った男と狂った女房
　　　There was a mad man and he had a mad wife,

狂った街に暮らしてた
　　　And they lived in a mad town:

彼らの子供は　三つ子だったが
　　　And they had children three at a birth,

三人みんな狂ってた
　　　And mad they were every one.

狂ったオヤジと狂ったオフクロ
　　　The father was mad, the mother was mad,

側にいるのは狂った子供
　　　And the children mad beside;

狂った馬によじ登り
　　　And they all got on a mad horse,

狂ったように走り回る
　　　And madly they did ride.

狂ったように夜を走り　狂ったように昼を走る
　　　They rode by night and they rode by day,

一人も落ちずに走り続けて
　　　Yet never a one of them fell;

狂ったように　たどりついたのは
　　　They rode so madly all the way,

地獄の入り口　門の前
　　　Till they came to the gates of hell.

狂った一家に 喜ぶ悪魔
　　　Old Nick was glad to see them so mad,

中へどうぞとご案内
　　　And gladly let them in:

ところが狂ったその一家　怖がるどころか大騒ぎ
　　　But he soon grew sorry to see them so merry,

悪魔は呆れて追い返す
　　　And let them out again.
